• Join the rapidly growing number of New Zealanders adding their observations to NatureWatchNZ. It’s easy, fast, and free. You can also download the free app for you smart phone or mobile device and upload  in seconds.
  • Not sure what bird (or plant, animal, fungi, bone, faeces, tracks etc…) you’ve photographed? Upload a photo to NatureWatchNZ, check the ‘ID please’ box, and a taxonomist will identify your observation, generally in less than an hour. Alternatively, see here for a list of links to online ID kits such as ‘What bug is that?”.
    

BRaid works with individuals, schools, community groups, government and non-government organisations and agencies to protect and enhance braided river species and their habitats by:

• Offering educational materials and speakers
• Assisting with setting up local river-care groups
• Assisting with springtime river-bird surveys (see here for example)
  
• Monitoring populations of colony breeding river-birds for fledging success
• Providing guidance on predator control programmes
• Partnering with stakeholders including DOC and ECan, that have responsibilities for river management
  
• Facilitating and running workshops on river-bird science and future management possibilities

We welcome assistance to spread the word about our river birds and to monitor bird populations.
